History

1926

John T. Woodruff, known for his contributions to Route 66, converted his farmhouse into our first official Clubhouse. The golf course on this land was built and officially opened in 1926 and was named after his farm- Hickory Hills.

1953

Hickory Hills hosted our first Missouri Golf Association Amateur Tournament in July of 1953. Bill Stewart, PGA legend Payne Stewart’s father, won the tournament.

1954

Our first Clubhouse caught fire on December 7, 1954, due to an electrical short while the Club’s four golf carts were being recharged.

1956

Hickory Hills hosted a grand reopening of our new Clubhouse and pool in 1956, nearly two years after the fire, with a water show to start the season.

1999

Though not hosted at our own course, Hickory Hills takes pride in our very own member Payne Stewart winning the 1999 US Open.

2002

In 2002, we added our Ballroom, Pub, and Men’s Grille to serve as private event and dining spaces.

2020

Our upper and lower patios, arguably the prettiest in town, were added in our 2020 renovation alongside our fitness center, studio, and massage area.
